How many people have you played on a DS at once?

Some people I know here at work own the DS, so I've got some multiplayer matches going via the wireless system link. 4 of us were playing Mario Cart today (all of us even own the game), and we were getting some slowdown and lag from time to time.

It would actually freeze us all up and chop along slowly for a few seconds now and then.
Its supposed to support 8 players, so I wondered if anyone else had a similar experience. One of them had the old fatty DS, and the rest of us had Lites. One guy kept blaming it on the girl with the older one.

I've had 8 going on MK in a break room @ work and we had a variety of Fatty and Lite DS systems. Only time we had lag was if someone was using the microwave. We've had games going on a single cart or multiple carts and that did not seem to matter either.

I do four-player sessions of Star Fox Command and Mario Kart pretty often.

I also noticed the slowdown mostly in 'busy' maps, like the pirate ship one...was wondering if all the action going on was a factor. Maybe something around there was jamming our signal a bit.

Six player Mario Kart DS, with lag only caused by ringing phones.

Yeah, if you were in your office building, the wifi network there, and 20 other things on the 2.4ghz frequency were probably interferring a little. Get closer together next time. And keep your cell phones on the backs of your belts or at your desk .

5 people at school playing Mario Kart while waiting for a professor to show up, no lag.

8, Mario Kart

Maximum capacity in Mario Kart, Tetris, ... that's probably it. It was when I was waiting in line for the Wii, surprise surprise.

I've barely played the thing multiplayer otherwise, besides some New Mario Bros. (fun!) and Mario Kart online. I think I hooked up with Mirth in Animal Crossing online before too.
