Anybody pick up Mage Knight for the DS?

It came out this week, and while there has been little to no coverage of the game, it sounds like my sort of game and the screens look pretty nice. I have scoured the net for reviews, but nothing's been posted yet that I can find.

I haven't played it.

I haven't heard of it being released, but then again I rarely keep up with things these days (internet is forbidden at work now).

I had seen this game come up on a few sites I DL DS games from but I knew nothing about it so I passed.
I seen this thread so I went and started checking out reviews. I see a lot of reader reviews that were around 8.5. Not bad. I seen some screens and such that looked ok too. I will at the very least give it a DL. ^^

Well, I bought it and didn't care for it. Graphically I liked the look, but for this type of game, gameplay is essential. I found it difficult to move my characters. You have to touch each character and "slide" him on the field of battle. it seemed very finicky. And when I could actually select a character nd drag him along things would move so fast, you would shoot past where you would want to move him. I think with practice that could all improve.

I feel my biggest complaint might have been that the first real battle you get into you have to hire as many people as you can from the local tavern/inn. And once you get into battle you have nine turns to capture two flags on the field. I will admit that i tried to win this battle about 15 times and couldn't do it. I understand that it is a heavy dice game, meaning you are constanlty trying to out role your opponent, btu when you routinely need to roll am 8 or 9, it just didn't feel right. it seemed that in order to win a battle, you needed to win every single roll.

It just wasn't for me.

Hrmm, so Jay Scout, is the touchscreen just not implemented very well, or are units tiny and hard to grab? I can't imagine this being the case, as I play Advance Wars w/ the stylus just fine.

I can deal w/ the difficulty around the die rolling, but if it's truly a pain in the ass just to move your pieces, then I may just pass, unless you can also use the d-pad to move them around, which I'm guessing you can't.

The units are decent size...it just seems as though you have to touch them in exactly the right spot or else you just move the screen, not the unit. I think if it had an option for d-pad movement it would still be on my shelf.

Yeah, I tried to select an ogre but I got a freaking woodelf instead even though I obviously didn't click on that one. Tried to move and had the same BS problem, I think this game could use some more bug testing. Otherwise it is pretty decent game.
