Um, Summon Night...?

Nobody is talking about this game at all. And it's great! I suppose the game structure isn't for everyone but it's a pretty worthy dungeon crawler.

Anyone else pick up Summon Night?

I started a thread about it around release. I still haven't picked the game up yet, since I had trouble finding the game originally, around release, so I bought something else. My local Meijer decided to finally carry the game, so I'll end up getting it there sometime.

The only things that holds me back is the game centering around one town, along with rarely touching my GBA (Too mush stuff on other platforms to play). But, the game definitely looks extremely interesting in every video I've seen, and it definitely looks like a game I'll love. I love the artwork and I've been wanting a Summon Night game for ages to come stateside. I'll get the game, but I'm not sure when yet.

I couldn't get into it.

The button mashing combat, bad quality music/sound absurd random battles turned me off. I didn't play it much past the intro, though.

If you're looking for an ultra generic JRPG, though, you can do a lot worse on GBA.

Super Robot Taisen - Original Generation is pretty cool. It's a strategy/RPG kind like Fire Emblem, only there's much more depth (and a sci-fi setting).

My Video Game Collection (is better than yours)

I've got it. I'm going to start it after I play through Riviera.

Wow, I guess it really just is non-interest, then. Atlus can't win 'em all, I guess.

Oh I'm definitely interested. Just don't have the money.

I was so excited about it, I preordered and got a copy as soon as EB had it in. The game itself is pretty engaging about 3/4 in, but after that, the dialog and fetch-missions got a little tedious. However, I pressed on and beat the game (I was using Pratty+Zantek). Overall, I think it was a worthy purchase, but it didn't leave me with a "omg, I want more" feeling that really good games give me.

Well, maybe the later games in the series have a lot more to them? That's assuming they localize any more installments.

Summon Night 2's due out this fall. No word yet on the SN3.

Each SN game is independent of the others, though, and I've heard that 2 and 3 are a lot cooler than the first.

I started playing Summon Night last night, and let me tell you, it's well worth picking up. I love the fighter-esque battle system!

My modojo review went up the other day (hit the GBA section).

Basically, the game is good, but not amazing or anything. It's a little shallow, and the storyline doesn't really go anywhere.

A great purchase if you're looking for a low-impact RPG though (as I was).
