I'm talking about purely in the context on game lag. Pioneer plasmas are fine but they seem to be a little worse with lag than Panasonic. And Samsung plasmas are very nice, too, they don't have the best blacks but otherwise they rock... however, they use the same processing as the LCDs, as far as I know, and are prone to the same lag.

Sharp was one of the "big three" LCD makers a couple years back. Sony, Sharp, and Samsung. They have had so many issues that I didn't even consider buying one, but they are a first-tier LCD maker. Sort of

I never noticed lag on my SXRD either. Motion blur just a tiny bit. Do you have an A3000? If you do, turn off the 120hz processing ASAP. It causes problems for gaming.

They pray four times a day, they pray five
Who's ways is strange when it's time to survive?
Some will go of they own free will to die,
Others take them with you when they blow sky high.
What's the difference? All you get is lost children
While the bosses sit up behind the desk it costs billions
To blast humans in half, into caps and arms
Only one side is allowed to have bombs.

Happy with my Aquos and would recommend it to any gamer.

It's my understanding that all plasmas have a high refresh rate...thus no motion blur. Of course the contrast, color reproduction, etc. vary.

I'm not a big fan of LCDs to begin with but from I've read Sharp wasn't a top tier....neither is Sony.

It's model 50A2020. I've never noticed any lag but it does have some slight motion blur. I turn all of that processing crap off. Hate it. It does a great job with contrast and dark scenes/color.

For overall quality I still swear by Panasonic plasma.

You're right about the Plasma's, most of them anyway generally don't suffer from any noticible lag.

Sharp's AQUOS was top tier until about 2-3 years ago. Then they started making cheaper ones to compete better with the "average" american's expected dollar, and the competition came up. They were some of the most expensive LCD's you could buy, but this was at a time when the market was dominated more by Plasma's.

And as you see from the links in this thread, the AQUOS line still has one of the smallest refresh rates to be found on a TV. Which is good for gaming if you're looking for LCD's. Which I was for the weight (was going to move shortly after buying) and the power consumption (when I bought mine it used less than half of the power of the most efficient Plasma I could find).

I heard from a friend at work that Panasonic just bought the Pioneer KURO technology? Anybody else hear that? If so it's great news.

Bummer about the Sharp LCDs. I think Sharp made an LCD with a BD player built-in on the side. I love that idea for a TV on the wall.

Actually I thought Panasonic supplied the plasma for the Pioneer Kuro sets.
